PURPOSE

This Memorandum of Collaboration establishes a mutual support relationship between GOTURSIX and Stand Beside Them (SBT) for the 2026 Steps for Vets campaign.

GOTURSIX is a community-centered nonprofit building food access and strengthening community resilience through shared resources, local participation, and community-centered gathering spaces in Missouri's rural Ozarks. Community resilience, as used here, refers to systems-level community capacity including strengthened food access, shared community resources, neighbor-to-neighbor participation, outdoor gathering spaces, local stewardship, and increased civic participation.

Stand Beside Them operates Steps for Vets as a national movement-based campaign providing free, ICF-credentialed coaching to post-9/11 veterans, transitioning service members, military spouses, and caregivers across 46 states.

GOTURSIX will participate as a community activation partner in the Missouri Ozarks by amplifying the campaign through local outreach, community engagement, and movement-based activities connected to the developing Hellbender Hollow Disc Golf Course in Hartville, Missouri.

Both organizations recognize the value of community-centered participation, grassroots engagement, and nonprofit-to-nonprofit collaboration.

COLLABORATION ACTIVITIES

GOTURSIX will:

  • Organize local community participation teams for the Steps for Vets campaign.

  • Promote the Steps for Vets campaign through social media, community events, and local outreach.

  • Host movement-based and disc golf-related community engagement activities including walks, team challenges, and step-tracking events.

  • Recruit local individuals, families, businesses, and community supporters to participate.

  • Share information about Stand Beside Them and the Steps for Vets campaign at all relevant events and through all relevant channels.

  • Co-brand event materials including bags, stickers, and signage with both GOTURSIX and SBT identities, subject to written logo use permissions from both parties.

Stand Beside Them will:

  • Recognize GOTURSIX as a community campaign activation partner.

  • Provide approved campaign graphics, links, and promotional materials to support GOTURSIX participation.

  • Share and amplify GOTURSIX participation through SBT social media and campaign communications where appropriate.

FUNDRAISING CLARIFICATION

All donor contributions for the Steps for Vets campaign will flow through and be receipted by Stand Beside Them unless otherwise agreed to in writing. Donors who wish to support Stand Beside Them directly will do so exclusively through SBT's campaign platform.

Nothing in this collaboration prevents GOTURSIX from independently operating local raffles, sponsorships, merchandise sales, entry fees, or other community fundraising activities associated with its own events. All such independent GOTURSIX fundraising activities will be clearly represented to participants as independent GOTURSIX efforts and will not be commingled with Steps for Vets campaign donations.

GOTURSIX retains 100% of all funds raised through its independent community activation events. Stand Beside Them has no claim to independently raised GOTURSIX funds.

COMMUNICATIONS

Major co-branded public communications referencing both organizations will be mutually reviewed and approved by both parties prior to release.

EVENT AND OPERATIONAL INDEPENDENCE

Each organization is responsible for managing its own events, volunteers, permits, and insurance. This collaboration does not transfer liability between organizations. Each party agrees to conduct its activities in a manner consistent with its own organizational policies and applicable law.

INDEPENDENCE OF ORGANIZATIONS

This Memorandum of Collaboration does not create a legal partnership, joint venture, employment relationship, or financial obligation between the organizations. Each organization maintains independent governance, finances, branding, and decision-making authority.

TERM

This collaboration is effective upon signing and concludes upon the close of the Steps for Vets campaign on June 30, 2026. Either party may propose an extension or amended collaboration through mutual written agreement.
