Youth Athlete Sponsorship Program

Purpose

The GOTURSIX Youth Athlete Sponsorship Program exists to remove financial barriers for young people who demonstrate commitment, sportsmanship, and a desire to grow through the sport of disc golf.

This program recognizes that the values learned through disc golf, including integrity, etiquette, perseverance, and respect for others, help young people develop into confident leaders on and off the course.

The sponsorship is designed to support personal development, community involvement, and healthy recreation while encouraging responsibility, character, and leadership.

The program may be renewed annually based on participation, available funding, and mutual agreement.

GOTURSIX Sponsorship

During the sponsorship year, GOTURSIX will provide:

  • Entry fees for up to 15 Disc Golf Monkey tournaments

  • Entry fee for one major championship event, recommended by Russ Burns and approved by GOTURSIX

  • Official GOTURSIX Hellbender Hollow Disc Golf Park apparel

  • Mentorship opportunities through GOTURSIX

  • Recognition on website, social, and events as a GOTURSIX Youth Athlete as appropriate and agreed upon by all parties

Upon successful completion of the sponsorship year, GOTURSIX intends to provide a $500 Future Opportunity Award to support continued education, athletics, personal development, or future goals, subject to available funding and Board approval.

Youth Athlete Expectations

  • Participate in up to 15 approved tournaments during the sponsorship year.

  • Learn and demonstrate proper disc golf etiquette, including honesty, respect for fellow competitors, pace of play, course care, and courtesy.

  • Demonstrate good sportsmanship regardless of tournament results.

  • Treat fellow players, volunteers, tournament staff, and spectators with kindness and respect.

  • Represent GOTURSIX, Hellbender Hollow Disc Golf Park, and Team Disc Golf Monkey in a “walk-the-talk” positive manner.

  • Maintain communication with his mentor regarding tournament participation and goals.

  • Notify Team Disc Golf Monkey and GOTURSIX if unable to attend a registered event.

  • Continue growing as both a player and a young leader within the local disc golf community.

Winning is never required. Instead, success is measured by:

  • Character

  • Sportsmanship

  • Disc golf etiquette

  • Personal growth

  • Commitment

  • Integrity

  • Consistent participation

Parent/Guardian Expectations

  • Support Youth Athlete’s participation throughout the sponsorship period.

  • Communicate scheduling conflicts when possible.

  • Help ensure appropriate conduct during sponsored events.

  • Notify GOTURSIX of circumstances that may affect participation.

Mentor Responsibilities

Russ Burns and Team Disc Golf Monkey will serve as primary disc golf mentors throughout the sponsorship period, including:

  • Recommend appropriate tournaments.

  • Provide guidance on player development.

  • Teach and reinforce proper disc golf etiquette.

  • Encourage sportsmanship and personal growth.

  • Help connect Callen with opportunities within the local disc golf community.

  • Communicate periodically with GOTURSIX regarding Callen’s progress.

Sponsorship Guidelines

This sponsorship is intended to remove barriers to participation and is not an employment relationship or athletic contract.

Tournament entry fees and approved equipment will be paid directly by GOTURSIX to tournament organizers or vendors whenever practical.

This sponsorship may be modified or discontinued at any time by mutual agreement or by GOTURSIX if participation expectations or organizational policies are not being met.

Long-Term Vision

The goal of this pilot sponsorship is to establish a repeatable youth athlete development program through Hellbender Hollow Disc Golf Park.

If successful, the program may expand to support additional young players through mentorship, tournament sponsorship, and community partnerships.

We believe disc golf has the power to build confidence, resilience, leadership, and a sense of belonging. This program is our investment in young people first, with the sport serving as the vehicle for that growth.
