The weight of trauma is heavy—but it doesn’t have to be carried alone. At Hellbender Third Space, we honor all paths to wellness. Our approach blends purposeful activity, community support, and brain-based tools to foster restoration and growth. We believe healing begins through shared action and side-by-side connection.

This program is ideal for Veterans and Family who are:

  • Seeking rest, renewal, and reconnection

  • Navigating the impacts of trauma or military life stress

  • Open to growth through creativity, movement, and connection

🧡 Program Format

🧱 Weeks 1–2: Immersive In-Person Experience at Hellbender Third Space

A peaceful rural setting for recalibration and connection. Participants live, learn, and grow alongside peers, volunteers, and coaches.

Activities include:

Hands-On Skill Building

  • Woodworking, gardening, animal care, disc golf, kombucha brewing

  • Leatherworking, sustainable agriculture, tie-dye, beading

  • Book discussions, nature walks, mindfulness, and seasonal crafts

  • Activities designed to rebuild agency, confidence, and rhythm

Neuroscience-Informed Coaching

  • Daily group check-ins using brain-based tools

  • Practical strategies for emotional regulation and motivation

Collaborative Living

  • Shared meals, peer-led activities, and group service

  • Rebuilding trust through co-creation and support

📋 Week 3: Online Integration & Coaching

After returning home, participants receive:

  • Weekly virtual coaching with certified professionals

  • Access to a private, peer-led support network

  • Tools for personal “healing-through-action” routines

  • Optional service projects to maintain growth and connection

📆 Sample Daily Schedule

Participation in any activity is optional. No pressure or obligation to attend any event. Unscheduled breaks may be inferred and used professional coaching and mental health support.

  • Sunrise — Meditation and Yoga by the Creek

  • 7:30 AM — Morning Movement & Animal Care

  • 8:30–9:30 AM — Shared Breakfast

  • 9:00–11:00 AM — Workshop 1

  • 11:30 AM–12:30 PM — Lunch

  • 1:00–1:30 PM — Perimeter Hike and Optional Dip in the Creek

  • 2:00–4:00 PM — Workshop 2

  • 5:00–6:30 PM — Dinner Prep & Shared Meal

  • 7:30 PM — Fireside Chat

Goal: Promote mental wellness and post-traumatic growth by honoring service and expanding community tools of support.
