Hellbender Hollow Disc Golf Course and Club
🥏 Build. Throw. Heal.
Disc golf is more than sport—it’s therapy in motion.
Hellbender Hollow Disc Golf Club (HHDGC) is the first disc golf course in Wright County, Missouri. Built by Hellbender Volunteers and backed by a mission to serve Veterans, Families, and Neighbors, it’s more than a course—it’s a movement toward community healing, one throw at a time. Whether you’re chasing an ace, clearing your mind, or just learning the ropes—this is your Third Space.
What Is Disc Golf?
Disc golf is a community-first sport that invites all ages and abilities to play. Instead of clubs and balls, you use a flying disc. Instead of holes, there are baskets. The goal is simple: throw from the tee and land your disc in the basket in as few throws as possible.
No tee times. No country club barriers. Just fresh air, good company, and a chance to reset.
At Hellbender Hollow, we’ve built a 9-hole “pitch and putt” course, where every hole is under 200 feet—perfect for ace runs, new players, and those who just want a good walk with better company.
“A day to learn, a lifetime to master.”
Our layout welcomes baby walk-ups, jump-putt approaches, and intentional joy. Whether it’s your first round or your thousandth, this is where you belong.
Why We Built It This Way
We didn’t bulldoze the land—we honored it.
To bring Wright County its first disc golf course, we combined innovation with integrity. Instead of heavy machinery, we used hog tractors—rotationally grazed pigs by our Neighbors —to clear invasive brush and enrich the soil. This regenerative approach turned forgotten woods into playable space without disrupting nature’s rhythm.
Just as vital were our human tractors—an incredible team of volunteers who traded sweat for service. They carried baskets, carved paths, hauled rock, and brought heart to every step. This course stands because they showed up.
Disc golf courses like ours can be built with just 10 acres and minimal impact. In return, they bring movement, laughter, connection, and healing.

And just as important: we had human power—our incredible volunteers—who swapped sweat for service. With hands and hearts, they turned muddy trails into playable paths and vision into reality.
